Prevention education
The Coastal Bend AIDS Foundation, Inc. (CBAF) recognizes that many members or our community have multiple complex needs and that all people can be at risk for HIV, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and Hepatitis C, regardless of their gender, orientation, race, ethnicity, religion or culture.
Our goal is to provide HIV and Substance Abuse preventions services that are affordable, available, and accessible to call of our community members.
The Outreach Team work various hours during the day throughout the week, to reach the greatest number of community members in the Coastal Bend Area that include: Nueces, San Patricio, Jim Wells and Kleberg Counties. In addition we also provide services to: Bee Mc Mullen, Refugio, Aransas, Live Oak, Duval, Brooks, and Kennedy counties.
Project F.R.E.E.
(Focused Risk-Reduction Education and Empowerment)
The goal of Project F.R.E.E. is to increase opportunities to all community members who are at risk for communicable diseases due to drug use, injection drug use, unprotected sexual activity, or other risk factors, to make positive behavior changes that reduce or eliminate the potential for infection. Street outreach allows Project F.R.E.E. staff to meet the community on their own ground… geographically, emotionally, any spiritually.
The staff opens dialogue through acknowledgement of the individual’s current beliefs and values so that clients may assess their personal risk for HIV and Other sexually transmitted diseases. Staff will also address myths and misconceptions about HIV and STDs.
